Saucy Technique
⭐ WHAT IS IT?
Also known as "Must Do, May Do" it is an organization strategy.
This material contains posters ready-to-print and templates with examples.
The link between the sauces and the actions are:
- Ketchup > Catch up
- Mustard > Must Do
- Mayonnaise > May Do
- Pickles > Pick one
It visually provides your students with the variety of activities and tasks they have to do or accomplish in a period of time, normally a session.
⭐ WHEN AND HOW TO USE IT?
Personally, there are some sessions through the course that I allow my students to work in class. Of course, I present them a new activity to do regarding the on going topic, however, there are other tasks and catch ups they must do.
Because of organization, not only for them but also for me as a teacher, I use this visual technique to expose:
- What they should have already done (Catch up)
- What they must do in the current session (Must Do)
- What they may do to improve knowledge on the topic (May Do)
- What they can do to increase knowledge (Pick One)

⭐ WHY YOU NEED IT?
As far as I have been doing this technique in class, my sutdents really appreciate this visual organization, and they find it attractive and useful. Besides, they really work during the session and they even use their agendas to note down those activities they won't be able to finish on the given time.
