Phonics Game

⭐ WHAT IS IT?

An already prepared activity to do in class with your students - a very fun activity to engage them with phonetics!

Students should have the phonetic symbols and they must work as a team to guess the sounds: all the students with the corresponding sounds must stand up and write on the whiteboard the phonetic transcription. When they state their final transcription, the teacher shows the solution.

They got very motivated when you declare it's a game between all the class and the teacher youtself!
If they guess the word, it's a point for them, otherwise the teacher gets it!

Phonetics is not always a cool thing to teach, and in ESL sometimes it is not a major topic to study. The English Phonetic System is as important as any other phonetic awareness, that's why showing the students that all sounds matter, in all languages, widens their linguistic knowledge.
