THE LESSON:
The main goal of these units is to link the language with Arts: music, cinema, literature... and remarkable people in history. The selection of the material has been theme related depending on the unit.
THE UNIT:
UNIT 4 - Love is in the Air
Theme:
To think over how 'love' may change or be different depending on one's own beliefs. Why is love everywhere: songs, movies, novels...? Through the several artistic expressions and perspectives of this unit, the student will find their romantic side.
Content:
- MUSIC: Whitney Houston & My Funny Valentine
- LITERATURE: Jane Austen
- BIOGRAPHY: Princess Diana
- MOVIE: 'Letters to Juliet'
- ART: "The Kiss" by Auguste Rodin
⭐ WHEN AND HOW TO USE IT?
This unit is part of a complete syllabus of 6.
There is no need to do all of them as there is no connection among them.
It can be done during the month of February because of Valentine's Day.
⭐ WHAT'S INCLUDED?
- Student's working dossier
- Teacher's notes (introducing questions, some answers, etc.)
- Timing of the sessions
- Extended activity for fast-finishers
- Reference material (to get the audios)
⭐ WHY YOU NEED IT?
This program stands for a communicative approach to involve students in their learning process, to foster critical thinking, to increase their command of the language, and to promote curiosity about what they learn. Consequently, their motivation might be increased by widening their knowledge of the English language and culture regarding its connection with songs, movies, and literature, all within its concrete historical context.
